Do we have any managers or directors here? I'd like to connect, but this page is kind of bare!
My big issues are how to build an instructional design mentality in an organization that has been pretty much a training delivery place; how to get classroom instructors on board with the 21st century; how to stay current & use new tools well.
Not an exec, however, I am very interested in this issue. I have many instructors/SMEs that I need to bring to the 21st century as you mentioned. In the manufacturing world, it is very difficult to change and or progress as rapidly as one would like. Any help or tips here would be great.
It's not just manufacturing. As we move through the learning curve with elearning, we're going to need more instructional design talent. It can be difficult to change the pattern that has emerged in many companies -- SMEs move into training roles. I'm in the process of hiring an instructional designer, but am concerned about how to integrate that role into patterns that have existed for much longer than I've been in the business.
